Each semester, our informal showing provides a venue for young choreographers to workshop their ideas on students and professionals as well as offer the surrounding community an opportunity to enjoy guest artists. Artists of all mediums are welcome to contribute and collaborate. The evening event is coupled with finger food and drinks to make for a great night out for all ages.
For students, participating in our informals provides the opportunity to work with creative dance concepts and share the evening with professionals.
Winter Concert provides preprofessional dancers in the Greater Pittsburgh Region with the opportunity to experience a professional audition and, if selected, to perform choreography set by a selection of Pittsburgh’s established and emerging choreographers. For 15 years, Winter Concert has paired artists with preprofessional dancers to create, learn and grow in a professional rehearsal environment.
Dancers are encouraged to participate from any school and represent their home studio!
WINTER CONCERT XVI
Performance January 4, 2025
George Rowland White Performance Theater
Point Park University
WC Auditions are open to any dancer, ages 13 and up in the greater Pittsburgh area.
The Winter Concert Program was created for aspiring young artists and designed to enrich their learning experience through rehearsal and performance. All rehearsals are held at The Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh. The rehearsal atmosphere is a positive one where dancers and their home studios are celebrated. The rehearsal process is structured to make participation accessible without impeding on busy schedules.
Winter Concert XVI will be performed in the George Rowland White Performance Theater at Point Park University January 4th.
There is a $100 performance fee per piece to help defray the costs associated with Winter Concert (operation costs, choreographers, theater rental, production costs etc..). Costumes are provided for a nominal rental fee of $25 for works where a formal costume is needed.
CASTING IS COMPLETE FOR THIS SEASON
The audition process is fun! It will run approximately 4.5 hours during which dancers will learn phrases for contemporary, jazz, and ballet works. This format is similar to a series of master classes where dancers can enjoy learning in a positive space.
Dancers should attend the audition with a headshot, resume, conflict schedule and $25 audition fee. There is an audition form that can be downloaded from this page or dancers can fill one out the day of the audition. It is important for dancers to fill the availability portion accurately as each choreographer will typically choose a singular rehearsal block (usually 2 hours) for weekly rehearsals. There is a space to indicate the amount of works a dancer would like to be considered for. This process makes participation far more accessible for dancers with busy schedules and provides a way forward for choreographers to set their work without disruption.
Dancers will be contacted via email with the results of the audition and final cast lists will be posted.
*Video auditions will be accepted if a dancer cannot attend the audition. Film a contemporary and ballet phrase each approximately 45 seconds in length. Please fill out the audition form and provide a resume. All materials/links can be sent to dcp@dcpdance.com by September 20th.

We believe that an essential part of a dance study program is a professional grade performance. To keep the focus on the dancing, we do not not require the purchase of costumes and provide DVDs of the performance to our families at no cost. DCP has it's own costume wardrobe available for dancers to rent for a nominal fee.
The Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh performances have been held at the Hillman Center for Performing Arts and the August Wilson Cultural Cent, The George Rowland White Performance Theater, and The Award Winning Pittsburgh Playhouse!
